I just did #69 of my list of 100. Get a nose ring.
Making a difference in Zimbabwe is my numero uno goal, and I heard good news today.
The reigning president, Robert Mugabe, has been ruling for 28 years: ever since Zimbabwe won its independence and was no longer ruled by a white European majority. Mugabe's rule has completely destroyed the country that used to be called the "bread basket of Africa." The average age of death for men is 37 and for women it's 34. They are running out of oil, electricity, and food. Mugabe has destroyed the lives of his own Shona people.
Well, the good news is that the elections currently being held in Zimbabwe are showing that the opposition party actually has a chance of victory. Although in the past Mugabe has used intimidation, violence, and rigged voting to maintain his presidency, the people are now more determined that ever to remove him from power. He might win this election, but it will only be because he used his devious ways; even with that it would be by the skin of his teeth. If he is in another election, it is almost certain that the people would not back down from him any longer.
