Hello all! I was just noticing that a lot of people have similar goals. I was thinking that we could get something organized together, like a road trip next summer or a group trip somewhere. We should probably plan WAY ahead, though. If anyone has any input, lets all talk about it here! We could even get the guys to help us out, but I think so much can happen if we all work on getting things done together!
Happy summer!
and also I think we should get the buried life guys help us pay for this I saw dave wanted to help so we should get like a sponor of theirs to help pay.

It's still in the early stages but right now we are planning June 2009 and hoping for three weeks. When you can find out we need to know when everyone who has classes, is out for the summer. So if you have a school calendar around find out what day school gets out. :o)
I have a very good suggestion for this one. How about we do the actual road trip from June 14 (Flag Day) to July 4 (Independence Day)? It starts on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday. It's perfect. Very American. Most of us can leave work on the Friday before. We meet up in California or wherever that Saturday. We load up everything and make final arrangements. Then, we bounce first thing that Sunday morning. As for the end, we arrive at our final destination on that last Saturday. Join a Fourth of July celebration at some small town in Maine or wherever during that day. And, we party and get wasted that night. Maybe not get wasted for the kids. But, oh, well. We'll find them something fun to do. Then, we wrap up everything the following Sunday. So, in reality, we'll all be together for 23 days. It'll be super awesome if we get to New York City by the last weekend of June. Pride festivities and stuff.
Ok we are making progress...just a quick question where are we starting and ending which exact cities because I think I am the only one coming from another country, right!?! I am just a little confused; just need some clarification. BTW the dates are fine with me and I feel that we are moving forward!! Good work people; keep it up!!!
so far your the only one from canada... although we are all spread out across the whole USA and at least youstill on North America. I'm not sure if UK Matt is still in but he's over in the UK... someone had mentioned that driving rte 66 east was the best way to do it. But I think we need to really decide A. if we want to do one way or do we want to do a round trip.
B. I think it would be great to start somewhere big like Seattle Or New York, LA would be easy for me.
Then we really need to check on our personal list and tell us all wht one you'd really like to accomplish. I found a place near the grandcanyon that hikes into and camps near these old waterfalls. You can bathe in the pools shower under some and dive off others. with that little camp over we could check off all kinds of waterfall dream, sleeping uinder the stars, and yelling into the grandcanyon for that. My vote is a round trip. So much to see! I have freinds to visit in Arizona, north carolina, new jersy, and I think up in washegnton,
OK I think I', going to pass out so I'll see you next time.
This seems to be alot in America... is there any Canadians out there that are willing to do the same but in Canada? if there is lemme know! Kay thanks!
I'm finally back! My life has been a whirlwind lately and it isn't going to calm down in the near future, so I will try and make my comments shorter this time than the ones that I accidently zapped. I'll try to give suggestions/recommenations/things to think about a little at a time. Two things to know, I am one of the older gypies on TBL and I have traveled a lot . . . both roughing it/camping & first class across this country . . . more than once or twice. Here are my recommendations for today:
A. Decide if you are going to try to cover a lot of miles - i.e. NYC to LA
OR
B. If you are going to try to enjoy the miles you cover - i.e. stop along the way and cross stuff off your lists
& help others along the way do the same.
I would recommend the TBL way (B) and give yourselves time to get to know folks along the way. Pick a shorter route. I thought the suggestion for something like Historic Route 66 was a good one. Take just a section of it and really plan where you are going and what you will do in each place you stop. If you help others along the way you will get to know each other.
If all you are doing is covering miles, then you might as well each take separate trips. You need a mission/goals. You need to make memories. You need something to report back to TBL. You need a plan that parents of the younger team players will feel comfortable with.
Going will be fun & work . . . but what is your destination / reason for going?

I end school June 5. I'm going to try to raise the money to get a plane ticket out there (maybe cross off my visit to Las Vegas to visit a friend) if my parents say yes. I'm really excited for this!
I hope it's not too late to be included in this. I haven't kept TBL in my bookmarks and just found this thread. It's the best damn idea I've seen since I first saw TBL on Current!
That said, I'm 18 and currently a freshman at Auburn University in Alabama majoring in Public Administration and/or/maybe Geography. War Eagle! I'm up for just about anything and can be either high-strung or laid-back depending on where I'm at or who I'm with. Anyone on the East Coast in this thing yet?
