Hello all! I was just noticing that a lot of people have similar goals. I was thinking that we could get something organized together, like a road trip next summer or a group trip somewhere. We should probably plan WAY ahead, though. If anyone has any input, lets all talk about it here! We could even get the guys to help us out, but I think so much can happen if we all work on getting things done together!
Happy summer!
everytime it says that to me its b/c i had uploaded it from my phone. maybe you should take it from a camera or something. but im not exactly an expert. haha!
I think this is a fantastic idea!! I'm definitely in!!! I think we should form a group of all the people who want to do this and look at each others lists and decide on at least two things that we want to accomplish that summer in some way and go from there deciding the location and activities…what are your thoughts?
Let’s make Summer 2009 memorably!!! :D
How about a trip along the Mother Road? Route 66 has always fascinated me. We can all meet up in Los Angeles and head out to Chicago in an RV. Excluding the two said cities, we'll pick 10 along the way where we'll make our own income for three weeks. We're going to all agree to bring the same amount of cash. No credit cards. Very limited electronic devices and just sufficient amount of food until the first stop. The idea is to go basic on almost everything. We'll exhaust every effort we have on every stop to make it to the next one.
In detail:
1. The trip is from Los Angeles to Chicago for three whole weeks.
2. Each will carry the same amount of cash (maybe $500.00), enough food to eat until the first stop, one cell phone each, one other electronic device each (maybe an mp3 player, a laptop computer or a digital camera but not all) and no credit cards.
3. We'll choose 10 locations along the way to stop by for two days each. We can camp out, stay in a lodging spot, crash at someone's house or just chill inside the RV.
4. For every location we pick, we'll try our best to make money. Even if it means performing along a sidewalk for some change, selling some of our creations, providing unique services or actually applying for a temporary job for two days, we'll do it.
5. The money we'll earn will be used to keep us going until the next stop. It'll be mostly for gas, food and lodging.
6. The second to the last stop will be focused on making money too, but it will have to be for the single purpose of earning the same amount of money we started off with. The only amount of money we'll end up spending for the whole trip is the one we'll use to get to Los Angeles. Oh, the rental fee for the RV and going back home should be considered too.
7. Now, in honor of The Buried Life program, each one will help a random person outside of the group to achieve a goal he or she has before the end of the trip. These random people we'll choose are not predetermined. They'll be chosen as we trek the Mother Road.
ok. for this i think its a pretty good idea, however, some of it is a little too far out there.
1. im not going to carry $500 in cash around. thats just not how i do things. so i think credit cards or in my case a debit card should be allowed in case of emergencies and such.
2. im pretty young, so constant contact with my parents would be a key in this thing. this means cell phone and probably a lap-top. i have to be able to work from the road as well.
3. i like the fact that we should get the word out there. i really do, so we should think of ways to do that as well, and maybe speak to a small business owner and work out a way we could help them and they could help us to make the money to survive.
and how about showers? b/c hygene is key to survival when it comes to girls. :) but i really like the Los Angeles to Chicago bit.
